In 2020, we installed our first moss wall for A*STAR—a multi-panel masterpiece that brought the benefits of biophilic design to their workspace. The success of this project, which required minimal maintenance and retained its beauty for years, laid the foundation for our return.
When A*STAR embarked on a new office renovation, they knew the impact a natural element could have. They tasked us with creating another signature piece, this time with a deeper conceptual meaning.
The Design Vision: Circles of Innovation
Following the success of our first moss wall in 2020, A*STAR wanted another impactful piece. Their new theme was “Continuity,” represented through a series of interlocking circles. This design required:
Precision: Sharp, clean lines to define the circular patterns.
Durability: Long-lasting colour and form.
Texture: A natural, organic feel to maintain a biophilic benefit.
Our Innovative Hybrid Solution
To achieve this complex design, our experts determined that a single type of material wouldn’t be sufficient. We proposed a hybrid solution to leverage the strengths of both preserved and artificial moss:
Preserved Moss: Used for its 100% authentic texture and natural appearance. It provided the organic, tactile feel that is central to a true biophilic design.
Artificial Moss: Used for its structural flexibility and unmatched durability. It allowed us to create the sharp, precise curves of the circles and ensure those defined edges would never degrade.
